Dyce Academy, which opened in 1980, is a well-established medium sized secondary school with approximately 565 pupils. The school is situated on the border of Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire and attracts pupils from both the Aberdeen suburb of Dyce and the surrounding rural area. It is a truly comprehensive school that is proud of its record for welcoming young people from different backgrounds and providing them with an excellent education.

Dyce Academy also has a reputation for providing a pleasant environment in which staff and pupils respect each other. This environment stimulates learning and encourages responsible behaviour in the young people at the school. Pupils are very successful in gaining employment and places at universities and conservatoires throughout the country. The school has a well-developed guidance system, which provides support and advice for pupils on both personal and educational matters.

Dyce Academy achieves very good examination results and pupils leave school with self-respect and a good knowledge and understanding of the society in which we live.

The school is housed in a modern building. There are bright classrooms and well-equipped facilities for the full range of secondary courses. The S5/S6 curriculum is jointly programmed with neighbouring Bucksburn Academy, which allows the school to offer an especially wide range and combination of courses to senior students.

Dyce Academy values good relationships with parents very highly. These are maintained through regular communications including reports, parent teacher meetings, school newspaper and website.

Each ACMS pupil will receive 2 hours on their first study and ½ hour on their second study per week. In S1/S2 pupils are withdrawn from certain subjects to create practice time. Each pupil will follow a personally devised curriculum in line with Curriculum for Excellence. Within their musical education pupils will receive performing, composing and creating opportunities as well as a thorough musical history knowledge.
