Aberdeen City Music School offers high quality tuition in all orchestral instruments, piano, guitar and percussion as well as Scottish traditional and jazz instruments. Singers may also attend the school.
The Panel of Tutors draws on musicians who offer a wide range of skills. All of them have a good track record as teachers and many are well known top class performers in the world of professional music. The entire Panel have another common feature, which is a willingness to work with the master tutors who visit ACMS regularly to enhance all that they do.
Director - Stephen Pinnock BA Cert Ed FRCO FRSA
Stephen read music at Leeds University and then went to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge where he gained a Certificate in Education with distinction in the practical work. He is also a Fellow of The Royal College of Organists. He has been director at a number of independent schools and in 2000 was appointed as the first Director of Aberdeen City Music School - Scotland’s new national specialist music school.
General Consultant - Walter Blair
Walter has been involved in musical education for almost forty years and has a wealth of experience in working with talented young musicians. After teaching in various schools he became Head of Music at Douglas Academy Milngavie in 1967 then in 1979 was appointed first Course Director of Strathclyde’s specialist music school at Douglas Academy. His association with the RSAMD goes back some 20 years, first becoming a part-time teacher in the Junior Academy of Music, and in 1994 became Associate Director of Music and Head of Continuing Education.
