ACMS Music School

Academic Music

A specialist music curriculum is devised on an individual basis for each Aberdeen City Music School pupil.

CelloGeneral
The time for the specialist music curriculum will be found by extending the school day until 1700 and modifying the mainstream school curriculum slightly.

DetailCurriculum
The curriculum comprises three broad aspects of study: Performing, Composing and Listening.

ViolinTeaching and Learning
Teaching and Learning relates throughout the course to the Higher Still Concept List and Advanced Higher Supplementary List.

TraditionalSocial and Historical Development
This important aspect is, perhaps, the most difficult to organise in a holistic approach to teaching.

MusicAssessment and Reporting
Assessment is ongoing and formative as part of Teaching and Learning. Guidance is given on the ways of reporting which are constructive and point the way forward for each pupil.
